My Goals, Intentions, & Rules of blogging: Part 1

Yesterday I noticed myself constantly thinking about this blog. I went to bed stressed because I didn’t finish the scheduled post for Wednesday night. This stressed feeling is precisely why I have stopped myself from continuing to blog in the past. But since I want to carry on and grow, I thought it would be important to catalog why I am writing this blog and set rules to reduce blogger-stress. So here are my intentions and rules going forward with MegsTango. I hope you will all hold me accountable.

Part 1:Intentions/Goals || Part 2: Blogger Rules

INTENTIONS/GOALS

Why did you start this blog? I started Megs Tango to capture all of life’s moments, including our first year of marriage and building a home together. I wanted to share how we are building community and show that you can make a childhood home a new home for you new family. I also wanted a space to share our home renovations, shopping, gluten free recipes, and just a bit of beauty.

What is the blog’s focus? I am a very chatty-rambling kind of gal and I have tried to limit the rambles from the blog (aside from this post). However, Im not sure this blog has found its niche yet. Like I said above, I want to showcase home renovations, marriage discussions, my faith, thrifty shopping, and recipes. So I would categorize this blog to be lifestyle- captures it all!

What is the blog not? I do not consider myself to be an expert of fashion nor do I want to take a bunch of photos of my outfits everyday. I want to capture life and what I wear in the moment or my latest shopping outing. I do want to change my style and I will certainly post outfit ideas and maybe weekly outfits, but I am not yet qualified to fill my page with all things fashion.

What is the short-term goal for your blog? My husband asked me this the other day. My initial thoughts, and this comes from years of following other blogs and thinking-I can do that- is to make some money. Ideally I would love to promote brands that I love and make a little bit of side cash to endorse my love of shopping- but remember I would not consider myself to be a fashion blogger. For my family that will laugh at the previous comments: remember this is a GOAL. Anything in between is success in my eyes. People following (orSUBSCRIBE- you should do it) or
blog/social media engagement- all of this would be great.

What is the long-term goal for your blog? To capture the life of my family and share with those that I love. I hope to produce something that I love and am proud of. If my following never grows or I don’t make money, none of that will matter as long as I enjoy what I am sharing with the world.

    I love this post and your focus! I started drafting something like this and felt silly about it so never made it public haha. But I love this and I’m gonna post mine with a hint of some of your content. Keep it up sister.
